BuildNV Core Construction Entry Program

This course will give you a well-rounded education in entry level construction. There are 8 different topics areas within the course. The first topic is Safety and successful completion of this module will result in an OSHA 10 card which is an industry standard. You will also learn how to safely lift products and cover common material handling precautions.

Basic math is used in construction and will be covered in class to ensure you can add, subtract, multiply, divide, and understand fractions, decimals, and basic geometry. The math module will also focus on conversion between metric and standard measurements.

Construction is an active, engaging profession and this class will teach you basic hand and power tools in a safe environment, allowing you to properly learn to use these tools. There are interactive exercises to get you experience using tools of the trade.

Reading basic construction drawings is covered. You will learn to read drawing symbols, scales, and standard components. This class teaches the basic types of construction drawings that you would come across in construction.

Soft skills are becoming increasingly more important; you use these skills to interact with others. This class will cover basic communication skills and basic employability skills. These modules will get you ready to perform tasks with verbal instructions, fill out work related project forms, and practice listening, speaking, and reading skills.

Successful completion of the class will result in an OSHA 10 card and NCCER Blue Card. These are industry credentials that set you apart in construction.
