Make your own bowls, plates, mugs and more as you explore the major techniques of pottery. Discover the ancient practice of throwing, the act of centering a ball of clay on the wheel head and shaping it into the finished product. Hone your skills with hand-building methods like slab-building, pinching and coiling. Enjoy a demonstration of the firing process using a ceramic kiln. Learn about different glazes used for decoration, permanency and waterproofing, and add additional flair with watercolors and stains. For those who have previous pottery experience, delve into more advanced techniques like clay marbling, raku firing and large wheel throwing. Practice working with clay stains, decals, metallic glazes, glazing pens and more. Take home your creations - pieces are dishwasher, microwave and food safe. All levels are welcome.
