Workplace Violence Awareness

During this (5) hour class, attendees will learn to recognize common warning signs of violent behavior, understand the steps you can take to prevent Workplace Violence, and determine what actions to take to prevent or minimize further violence.  Workplace Violence is often thought of as a physical attack. It may also include threats, intimidation, and other disruptive behavior, oral or written statements, and gestures or expressions that communicate a direct or indirect threat of physical harm.  This course is designed to assist managers, human resource professionals, social workers, health care workers, retail workers, as well as front line employees and volunteers understand the warning signs of conflict and take proactive measures to preempt violence or harassment.  

The objectives of this course are:

? Define Workplace Violence in accordance with the OSHA Standards.

? List the four types of Workplace Violence.

? Identify the three warning sign levels related to potential Workplace Violence. 

? Identify ways to prevent Workplace Violence.

? Identify appropriate response to workplace violence. 

Due to the nature of this course, weapons of any sort (including legal concealed carry weapons) are are strictly prohibited on the TMCC Campus.

This course can be customized for most businesses in order to cater to each facility’s unique challenges and design needs.
