The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics predicts 31 percent job growth in the medical assistant field through 2024 with starting pay averaging $13 an hour. Be a part of this in-demand career by working in a private medical practice, hospital, clinic or other medical facility. This accelerated program will train you to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, the technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Discuss topics including pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, professional behavior, ethics and legal aspects. You'll complete about 170 hours of lecture and hands-on labs.
