WATERCOLOR PAINT IN TUBES
The sky is the limit on this. Feel free to buy a general colors TUBE set (12 or 16 or even 24) at Hobby Lobby or Walmart or head to Nevada Fine Art and choose custom colors. Just make sure you have all of the fall colors:
2-3 shades of each, orange, yellow, red, brown and green.
It’s really up to you how much you want to invest in paints. I recommend starting simply and cheap and then move over, slowly, to more expensive and a variety of colors. I even enjoy and use quite often Prang student watercolor PAN sets in 12 or 24 colors (again, available at Hobby Lobby, Michaels or even Walmart). This all depends upon your interest and dedication to painting. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at 775-287-9182.
BRUSHES
1. FLAT WASH (Cheap hog hair or Hake brush ok)
2. Size 4 or 6 round watercolor brush
3. Size 2 or 4 Rigger or Script brush (small brush with long hairs)
PAPER:
140 lb or 300lb cold-pressed watercolor paper, 4X6 postcard booklet (we are working fast and small) Arches Watercolor block works as well . Be sure to buy at least 10 sheets as our goal will be to complete 2 small paintings per session.
50 or more sheets of all-media, heavy paper sketchbook. We will be practicing, practicing, practicing. Heavy, all-media is a cheaper alternative to watercolor paper.
Miscellaneous Supplies:
Watercolor palette is nice, but a plain white dish platter will work. Thrift stores are a good option here.
Thin 1/2” painters masking tape
Small spray bottle with water
Small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol, any percentage is fine.
Small box of crayons (12 or 16), any brand is fine.
Sponges, just a small, 2-3 inch section of a kitchen sponge and a sea sponge; used are even better!
Old, used toothbrush
1 foot piece of cellophane
Small jar or baggie of salt
A roll of paper towels
A big, 1/2 gallon or bigger, recycled plastic container for water. Again, a thrift store can be nice or a large Folgers coffee can work. Really anything that will hold water is perfect.
A selection of 10-15 of your favorite fall leaves. The more colorful the more fun!
Substitutions are okay, Call Lauren Gandolfo at 775-287-9182 if you have questions
