Deepen the bond with your dog and bring joy to the people who may need it most. Work at your dog’s level by learning to speak dog. Discuss training tips and techniques, understand how dogs think and establish a reinforcement schedule for well-known behaviors. Prepare and take the Canine Good Citizenship test. Interview with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and meet dog-handler teams. Observe public access policies and service animal rights as well as dog advocacy and public education groups you can be a part of.
